Ia diangkat jadi hakim konstitusi pilihan pemerintah. Sebelumnya ia
diajukan Fraksi PDIP DPR, tapi mengundurkan diri karena akan
dicalonkan pemerintah. Walaupun ia mengaku tak pernah dipanggil Presiden
Megawati Sukarnoputri sehubungan dengan pencalonan menjadi hakim
konstitusi itu.
Pria kelahiran Nganjuk, Jawa Timur 31 Maret 1948, lulusan doktor
hukum tata negara Unair ini sebelumnya menjabat anggota Panitia Ad Hoc I
Badan Pekerja MPR yang membahas amandemen UUD 1945. Born in
Nganjuk, East Java, 31 March 1948, Harjono finished his primary and
secondary education in his place of birth. He finished his doctoral
degree in Airlangga University, Surabaya in 1994 after finishing his
master degree in Comparative Law in the School of Law, Southern
Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, USA in 1981. His bachelor degree
was received from the faculty of Law, Airlangga University, Surabaya in
1972.
In addition to teaching in Airlangga University, Surabaya, he was also a
post-graduate program lecturer in some universities in Surabaya,
Yogyakarta, Manado, Malang, Semarang, and Denpasar. This husband of Dra.
Siti Sundari is also a member of the Indonesian People’s Consultative
Assembly for the period of 1999-2004. Last but not least, he is also a
member of the Consortium of National Law Reform and expert team in the
Department of Justice in formulating the draft of citizenship law. ►mk
